Cabinas El Mirador Lodge is situated on a hill overlooking Drake's Bay on the Osa Peninsula of the Pacific Coast of Southern Costa Rica. Because it is off the beaten path, Drake's Bay has managed to preserve much of the pure, natural charm of its pristine beaches and lush jungles, teeming with wildlife and vegetation. Drake's Bay is conveniently situated on the border of Corcovado National Park and only 12 miles west of the Isla del Caņo, one of the best spots for diving and snorkeling in the region. Drake's Bay was named after the legendary pirate Sir Francis Drake as history tells us that Drake spent time in the bay and possibly even buried treasure here.
Accommodations
Cabinas El Mirador Lodge has one of the most spectacular views of any hotel in Drake's Bay. Our cozy, open air cabins are located on the hill just 200 meters from the ocean. Our guests fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore and awaken to a cool morning breeze. Your accommodation includes an ocean view cabin and three meals a day lovingly prepared by our cook.
Getting here From
San Jose, SANSA (221-9414) has a flight to Palmar Sur costing $68 one
way., the flight departed at 9:30 a.m., arriving at about 10:30 in Palmar
Sur. Please check flight times as they may have changed. Once you arrive
in Palmar Sur, you will need to take a taxi for approximately $15 through
the banana plantations to the quaint town of Sierpe. The taxi will leave
you at the dock in front of the Oleaje Sereno hotel from which point you
will take a boat the rest of the way to Drake's Bay. The boat winds down
the stunning Sierpe River, through a narrow canal of mangrove trees, past
the legendary Violin Island where it is said that the pirates Captain
Morgan and Sir Francis Drake buried their abundant treasures, arriving one
hour later in the breath-taking Drake's Bay. A
less expensive way to travel would be to arrive from San Jose to Palmar
Norte by bus (TRACOPA) which costs approximately $6.00 and takes about 6
hours. From Palmar Norte, you can either take a taxi for about $15, or a
bus for less than a dollar, to Sierpe. Then continue as previously
suggested above. Finally, if you have a 4x4 vehicle, you can arrive by land most of the year. It would be a good idea to verify that the road is open, especially during the rainy season, before setting out. Enter through Chacarita, pass through Rincon de Osa, and then through Rancho Quemado, arriving finally in Drake's Bay. To find us in Drake's Bay, simply tell the boat pilot that you wish to go to El Mirador or ask anyone in town once you arrive. You will find that people are genuinely friendly and eager to help.

area. Perhaps, though, Isla del Caņo is best known for its spectacular
diving and snorkeling. Horseback Riding
If you are interested in horseback riding, we can arrange several mounted tours for you. You can visit an arqueoligical site or ride out to Los Planes, a biological reserve. You will never find a more spectacular backdrop than Drake's Bay for this activity. Hiking

howler monkeys, macaws, among other creatures, are abundant. You can

private section of deserted beach. Corcovado National Park has miles and
miles of trails that would take an entire week to fully explore, as well.
