La Leona Eco-Lodge Tent Camp is your gateway to adventure and excitement right beside Corcovado National Park. It is Costa Rica's wildest national park situated on the Osa Peninsula. La Leona Eco Lodge is adjacent to the south end of the park where virgin rainforest meets the ocean. It is what Outside Magazine has referred to as "the last, best peninsula".

La Leona (meaning the lioness) Eco Lodge is named after a stream that divides the boundries of park from the lodge. About the Lodge:

The 13 tents currently available at La Leona are set amidst tall shade trees over looking the ocean and a black sandy beach. A beach often totally deserted as far as the eye can see is great for sunbathing and the sea suitable for swimming or boogie boarding. boogie boards of which we have available for our guests enjoyment.

The 9 acres of beachfront property are backed by 75 acres of primary rain forest, of which borders Corcovado National Park. The wild life knows no boundaries so what animals can be seen in the park can be spotted while hiking on our excellent trails. All a great combination for an unforgettable stay for the hearty eco-tourist. Just imagine wild life can even be seen while relaxing in the hammocks that over look the ever changing ocean.

The tents themselves are set on wooden platforms and are made of thiek - a man made material. Each pleasant, airy tent has 2 single mattresses for your comfort. Solar powered lights mark the main  pathway from the restaurant to your tent. There is also solar panel lighting allocated at the shower/toilet building where there are 4 toilets and 4 wonderfully high pressure refreshing showers.

The Lodge has Kitchen, dinning and lounging areas. The food is an excellent combination of local foods combined with some western variations to cater to the tastes and requirements of all.

La Leona Eco Lodge is located on the Carate Beach, at the edge of the Corcovado National park, one of the most biologically intense areas in the world.

We are happy to offer you a wide variety of things to do and tours to take part in during your stay with us. You are free to explore our natural reserve at your leisure. We have trails to hike with not only spectacular views but spectacular flora and fauna to be seen. Come and learn to watch and to enjoy the nature.

We are fortunate in being able to share with you a great combination of beach and rainforest: Pura Vida as the say here in Costa Rica. Pure Life, a perfect mixture of natural experiences.
  • Tour of Carate River and waterfalls (maybe even encountering some hardy gold miners along the way.

  • Bird and/or Mammal Tour of Corcovado.

  • Turtle Tour (seasonal only).

  • Horse back riding Tour along the Carate Beach.

  • Crocodile tour to Pejeperrito Lagoon.

  • Also for the more robust, there are tours of multiple days in the famous Corcovado National Park. you will be surprised to find such an abundant biodiversity in this dense rain forest, unique in central America.

La Leona Lodge offers a guided Adventure Service. By featuring locals Costa Rican guides you are sure to see so much more wildlife. Often wondering how did they see that ! ! !

In addition to their expert eyes you will learn about the ecological systems of the tropical rain forest. To visit such an untamed area is a great educational experience. At the same time you collaborate with the conservation of the biodiversity which helps to encourage a responsible eco-tourism

¿How to get from Puerto Jimenez?

1 hour 30 minutes 4 x 4 to Carate or with the "colectivo"(car), leaving Puerto Jimenez at 06:00 AM and 13:30 PM, daily.

Or by Aerotaxi Alfa Romeo  offers charter flight to Carate.
