Our lodge is on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica, one of the world's greatest ecologically diverse areas. The Osa Peninsula is host to over 700 species of trees, more than either the entire country of the USA or Canada. El Remanso Rainforest Wildlife Lodge is located half way between the town of Puerto Jimenez and the famous Corcovado National Park and is included in the Osa National Wildlife Refuge which now integrates over 5,000 acres. This wildlife refuge protects the biological corridor between Corcovado National Park and Cabo Matapalo.
The Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica is one of the world's most beautiful pristine tropical rain forests of the world amd a great eco-tourist holiday. You can see vast amounts of wildlife and botanical treasures. Scarlet macaws, toucans, parrots, four species of monkeys, five species of wild cats, kinkajous and much more can all be seen from El Remanso lodging. Sandy beaches, rivers, forest trails, tree climbing, waterfalls and some of the world s best birding and wildlife viewing.

Our lodge's 140 acres are surrounded by ancient forest and its endlessly fascinating and amazing jungle and wildlife. Recent sightings include jaguars, ocelots and several species of rare endemic birds. If you want to experience the splendors of nature at its best while relaxing comfortably you will love to be with us at El Remanso.

If you are adventurous you may want to experience the forest canopy by climbing to the platforms in the trees for exhilarating views. Our many waterfalls on the property can be enjoyed by hiking or a four hour trip rappelling down a series of four falls and through shady pools. At the end of the pools you will arrive on our wonderful sandy beach.

Our cabins are situated with ocean and forest views where you can experience the rain forest at its best in comfortable and spectacular lodging.

Each cabin is fully screened, has a private bath, hot water, electricity provided by a micro-hydroelectric plant, a queen and single bed, and hammocks. Relax on the front porch where you can watch the gorgeous sunset, while listening to the song sounds of the forest.

THE CASA OSA

A recent addition to El Remanso is the Casa Osa. We now can comfortably host large groups and families. The Casa Osa can accommodate up to 10 people. Delightful and comfortable 2 level house, with 3 bedrooms, 1 upstairs and 2 downstairs. It is completely screened with 2 bathrooms, hot water and electricity, forest and ocean views. There is a huge upstairs forest deck perfect for writing, meditation, yoga, painting, relaxation and birding. The ground level has a comfortable patio with lots of seating. The Casa Osa is ideal for families and groups. Please enquire about special rates for groups.

El Remanso has 3 luxurious and comfortable 1 bedroom houses. They are fully screened and have a private shower, hot water, electricity provided by a micro-hydroelectric plant, queen and single beds and hammocks. Your cabina is a perfect retreat for reading, meditating, writing, studying, research or just relaxing. Each one has capacity for 2-4 people.

All the cabins have impressive forest and ocean views and are surrounded by lush landscaping. Minimal clearing has been done so that each cabina borders on the natural jungle environment. You can sit on your porch and have a good chance of seeing wild monkeys climbing in the nearby trees and hear the orchestra of jungle sounds without leaving your chair. Have a set of binoculars in hand, and you can spend hours bird watching. The 140 acres of El Remanso is home to a wide variety of birds. The sunsets from the porch are equally fantastic and once it gets dark, with no glare from any nearby town or city, the stargazing is exceptional.

The cabinas can accommodate couples, families or small groups. A feeling of warmth is created by the use of local hardwoods, salvaged from the forest. No tree was cut down to build the cabinas.

The front of the cabinas have a full height sliding door, and the other 3 sides have louvered screened openings, thus allowing for good ventilation on the warm days and nights.
